This seminar will focus on the culture of entertainment and enjoyment. On the basis of selected readings, amusement and entertainment formats that are very popular in modern societies are treated and examined. The texts draw a line from the emergence and history of popular culture to its postmodern present and also deal with the theoretical approaches to this complex of topics. Using various examples, questions are examined, such as whether the users of such popular cultural offerings can be understood as passive consumers or as active participants.Dates
